Transportation to Asheville NC can be arranged for campers who wish to arrive by bus or plane. Arrivals and departures should be between 10 am and 4 pm. Mid-day is ideal. Please let us know of your plans at least a week ahead of time so we can arrange for a driver. There is a charge of $100 for each trip per family. Footlockers and other luggage should be clearly marked Camp Celo in large letters.
Luggage may be sent to camp ahead of time via UPS. Please allow two weeks for delivery.
Camp families often cooperate on transportation. We would be glad to furnish names and addresses of other families in your area.
You may be looking for accommodations in our area when you bring or pick up your children. Camping is available at Carolina Hemlocks or Black Mountain Campground, Pisgah National Forest (no showers, no reservations; 828-682-7660), Crabtree Meadows, Blue Ridge Parkway (no showers, no reservations; 828-765-6082), or Toe River Campground (828-675-5104). For Bed and Breakfast try Celo Inn (828-675-5132), The Nu-Wray Inn (828-682-2329), or others listed with the Yancey County Chamber of Commerce (828-682-7413),
Campers' arrival is between 1:00 and 4:00 pm on the opening Sunday of each session. Plan to take time to tour the camp, meet the staff and other camp families. There are picnic tables on the grounds if you would like to bring a lunch. The first meal served to campers will be supper at 6:00 pm.
Departure at the end of the camp session is between 9:00 am and 12:00 noon Saturday morning. Breakfast is the last meal served to campers that day. The staff need the 24 hours between sessions to prepare for the next group so please don't be late with pick up.
